PMUC ANALYSES
Homologation & Inspection of products intended for use in nuclear power plants
IN WHAT CONTEXT ARE PMUC ANALYSES NECESSARY ?
FOR PRODUCT TESTING
– Testing the halogen concentration in a product under development
FOR HOMOLOGATION
– First use in a nuclear power plant – A call for tenders
FOR INSPECTION
– Previously registered product – Product testing
our pmuc analysis services
For which products and materials ?
All materials intended for use in nuclear power plants must be PMUC analysed as they may contain halogen components.
By which analytical techniques ?
Whether it is an inspection or an homologation, the determination of halogens + Sulfur is done by Ion Chromatography (IC). For the inspection, an additional step will be necessary, called « a double method » :
– Sulfur analysis by ICP-AES – Bromine analysis by ICP-MS or ICP-MS/MS – Chlorine analysis by UV-Visible – Fluorine analysis by Ionometry
By which analytical techniques ?
The aim of PMUC analysis is to determine the halogen (Fl-, Cl-, Br-) and Sulfur content. Then, results are compared to EDF specifications, so that the organization can validate the conformity of the product.
why choose filab for your pmuc analysis ?
EDF approved laboratory
For many years, FILAB has been approved by EDF to perform chemical analyses on PMUC products.
Dozens of PMUC analyses are performed every day in our laboratory.
